Backed By Science Inc., Suicide Girls Co-Founder Sean Suhl Goes National With Mobile App Let?s Date

Lets Date Screenshot - Dater CardSean Suhl, the co-creator of the site Suicide Girls (an "alternative community" that's known for its nude photos of tattoed and otherwise alternative women), has a new startup that's launching nationally today ? Let's Date. Suhl said the idea came out of his examination of other dating sites. Most of them have mobile apps, but he argued, "You could never create a truly great mobile product that was tied to a legacy computer property." And while there are other mobile-focused companies (most famously Grindr), they're focused more so on hookups rather than dating and relationships. So with Let's Date, Suhl wanted to create "the absolute best iPhone dating experience."

?Baby Shower? Providing Resources to Expecting Mothers

Posted by celticaremarketing & filed under Blog, Featured, Member News, Newsroom.

This month CeltiCare hosted its first Baby Shower to provide resources and support to expecting mothers and fathers. A new initiative that is part of the Start Smart for Your Baby program, the event offers participants a range of information about their pregnancy and the opportunity to ask questions about their health and benefits coverage in a relaxing, festive setting.

Topics covered at the session include Prenatal Visits, Nutrition, Smoking and Alcohol Use, Signs of Labor and Pre-term Labor and Family Planning. Resources available through WIC (Women, Infants and Children Food and Nutrition Service) were also discussed. January?s session was held in collaboration with the South Boston WIC Office and the South Boston Neighborhood House.

Additional Baby Showers to provide members support during pregnancy are in the works for later this year. Stay tuned for more information. If you are currently expecting and have questions about your CeltiCare plan benefits, contact our Member Services team at 866-895-1786.

Expecting moms and representatives from CeltiCare, the South Boston WIC Office and the South Boston Neighborhood House gathered at the first Baby Shower information session on January 18th. Future member events for expecting mothers will be announced in the coming months.

3 Steps to Kissing Diversion Goodbye | MomsGetReal

MomsGetReal Soulfeeder Chris Wilcox

Saturday, I found myself at work for 5 hours playing catch up on all the things I didn?t get to during the week, a pattern that was established in January and I would imagine is not going to drop anytime soon. I?m okay with it. But I?ve always been okay with Things that Have to Get Done, especially when it allows me to skirt Things I Know I Should Be Doing Instead.

What should I be doing on a Saturday?? A 60-minute meditation. A walk in nature. A movie that makes me laugh, a book that makes me cry. Five written pages on a book that I?ve said I?m writing for four years now that always seems to stall. Yoga. Belly dance.? Pilates. Studying astrology.? Journaling. Self Care.

Oh.My.God.

The possibilities are endless! Why haven?t I awoken EVERY Saturday with a list a mile long of things I should be doing for myself?? They?ll make me feel better! I?ll be less stressed! I?ll be more balanced.? I?ll stop.? Working. (gulp). Long enough? to not work for an hour. On that one thing that?ll only take me an hour to finish if I don?t-have-the-phone-ringing-and-people-stopping-so ? Where are my keys?

So you get the idea. I?m a master at diversion. Somehow, I don?t think I?m alone. If I was, airlines wouldn?t have a practice of saying ?If the oxygen masks drop from the ceiling, put your own on before assisting others.?

Is anything in particular stopping me from spending an hour on a Saturday ? or any day ? focused first on Self Care?? No. Nothing. Just my (oh, crap, here we go) Choices.

Choose your thoughts. Choose your life. Choose your direction. Choose your shoes. Ooh. Shoes! What?s on sale at Zappos.com?? Hello, Diversion.

It?s like Name that Tune (I?m dating myself with that one?).? ?I bet I can divert my intention in 5 thoughts or less.?

If you haven?t noticed, I?m diverting away from Self Care to things that are Existence Care. I care for my existence by earning money, doing well at my job, and paying my bills on time. That?s it. So why am I diverting from Self Care? Easy ? I value my material existence and what people perceive me to be over valuing my spiritual self and well-being.

Some of you might be thinking right now, ?On what planet does that make sense?? I know I am. But it?s true. Somewhere along the way, I defined ?Self Care? as something that wasn?t a priority, and I diverted to Existence Care.

I?m at the crux where I need to show Diversion the drain by changing my thoughts.

Here are three things I?m proposing to my Self to stop Diversions from interfering with Self Care practices.

ballerinaTake small steps toward creating and sustaining Self Care practices. If you try to commit to an hour of anything a day, it can seem daunting. When I think of taking an hour, I instantly refer to my internal clock. Where will that hour come from? 5 am or 7 pm? Will I be too tired at either point? If I don?t, will I lapse completely and fail?? That?s a lot of self doubt pouring out in regard to taking care of myself before I?ve even started.? So instead ? I?m starting with 15 minutes every day of moving or being still.? Whatever my soul needs at the moment, but I?ll balance it out so it?s 50/50 at the end of every week.

Recognize Diversion thoughts as they arise and ask myself, ?What feeling am I trying to avoid?? Right now, I?m slowly embracing my yoga practice again, but I am admittedly frustrated that poses that I used to do with calm and ease are completely out of my range right now.? I know I?m not trying to avoid frustration; I?m trying to avoid confronting what my choices have resulted in. I am going to adopt a Yoga Pants attitude: whatever shape I?m in, I fit, and as I transform, so will my Yoga Pants.

Cheer myself on. I need to be more gentle with myself when I do divert. I am committing to look at myself as my 5-year old me ? a towheaded kid with big blue eyes who?s really tall for her age and has big feet but still wants to be a ballerina. Who wouldn?t love that little kid?? Who wouldn?t want her to succeed at Self Care? I know I do.

Diversions are just choices ? two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and I?. I am going to take the one that will lead toward balance. That?s my plan.

Namaste.

(AP) ? An end to winter's bitter cold will come soon, according to Pennsylvania's famous groundhog.

Following a recent stretch of weather that's included temperatures well below freezing as well as record warmth, tornadoes in the South and Midwest and torrential rains in the mid-Atlantic, Punxsutawney Phil emerged from his lair Saturday in front of thousands but didn't see his shadow.

Legend has it that if the furry rodent sees his shadow on Feb. 2 on Gobbler's Knob in west-central Pennsylvania, winter will last six more weeks. But if he doesn't see his shadow, spring will come early.

The prediction is made during a ceremony overseen by a group called the Inner Circle. Members don top hats and tuxedos for the ceremony on Groundhog Day each year.

Bill Deeley, president of the Inner Circle, says that after "consulting" with Phil, he makes the call in deciphering what the world's Punxsutawney Phil has to say about the weather.

Phil is known as the "seer of seers" and "sage of sages." Organizers predicted about 20,000 people this weekend, a larger-than-normal crowd because Groundhog Day falls on a weekend this year.

"I just hope he's right and we get warmer weather soon," said Mike McKown, 45, an X-ray technician who drove up from Lynchburg, Va., with his mother.

Phil's got company in the forecasting department. There's Staten Island Chuck, in New York; General Beauregard Lee, in Atlanta; and Wiarton Willie, in Wiarton, Ontario, among others noted by the National Climactic Data Center "Groundhog Day" Web page.

"Punxsutawney can't keep something this big to itself," the Data Center said. "Other prognosticating rodents are popping up to claim a piece of the action."

Phil is the original ? and the best, Punxsutawney partisans insist.

The 1993 movie "Groundhog Day" starring Bill Murray brought even more notoriety to the Pennsylvania party. The record attendance was about 30,000 the year after the movie's release, said Katie Donald, executive director of the Groundhog Club. About 13,000 attend if Feb. 2 falls on a weekday.

Phil's predictions, of course, are not always right on. Last year, for example, he told people to prepare for six more weeks of winter, a minority opinion among his groundhog brethren. The Northeast Regional Climate Center at Cornell University later listed that January to June as the warmest seven-month period since systematic records began being kept in 1895.

"We'll just mark it up as a mistake last year. He'll be correct this year," McKown said hopefully.

Why should women pump iron? | Hybrid Health and Fitness

Fitness Model Working Out

Lifting weights isn?t only for muscle-heads.

For over a decade I have been helping people live healthier lifestyles. The cornerstone of my advice is YOU?NEED TO EXERCISE! Exercise has many flavours which is great as a variety of activities is best for your body. Almost everyone understands the importance of cardiovascular fitness (cardio) but very few understand the importance of resistance training.

One of the most common reasons women give for not lifting weights is ?I don?t want to bulk up?. Ladies ? please throw this common misconception away! Testosterone is the primary ?muscle building? hormone within the body and men produce up to 20 times as much as women. Therefore unless you, as a female, are lifting really heavy weights (low rep/high set) and consuming a diet really high in animal protein and calories ? it is really hard to add muscle ?bulk?.

Here are 5 great reasons for women to lift weights and take their body to the NEXT LEVEL!

  1. Increased Metabolic Rate ? By adding new muscle to the body you are increasing the body?s ability to burn calories even at rest. Let?s face it ? most women when heading to the gym are thinking ? I need to burn calories!?Muscle has a higher energy?demand then fat so as you shave off fat and increase muscle you will burn more calories per day and stay leaner.
  2. Increased Tone & Bone?- Want to firm up your butt? Try doing some squats and lunges with weights and tighten up those gluts! Lifting weights will start to create new muscle?definition?that you didn?t even know you had. Also, by adding muscle you will increase your bone density and be less likely to develop osteoporosis (weak, fracture prone bones) as you age.
  3. Increased Libido ? By lifting weights and improving your body image you will become more comfortable naked. A small increase in testosterone (don?t worry ? it isn?t very much) can also make you crave ?sexy time? a little more often!
  4. AngelD2Increased Functional Strength ? By increasing overall strength you will be able to perform activities of daily living better. For example ? you and your partner purchase a funky sofa. Now you can help lift it up the stairs instead of calling over the weird man next door that tends to creep you out with his longer then socially acceptable stares.
  5. Decreased Chance of Injury ? As long as you use proper technique you will decrease your chances of injury. For example ? you?re walking on an icy sidewalk and your knee buckles slightly but you don?t fall down. Because you have strengthened your legs through resistance training the muscles provided stability in the knee. Compare that to someone with poor muscle development and they will likely have torn a ligament in the knee as their knee buckles and they fall down.

Some Tips to Incorporate Weights into your Workouts

If you decide on lifting weights a good set/rep combo is 3 sets of 8-12 reps. You should be using a weight that makes you?fatigued?as you approach the last rep. If you can easily do 10 or 12 reps then choose a heavier weight. Work each body part at least once a week. Multi-joint exercises are preferable, especially at the beginning of your workout (and more bang for your buck) then single isolation exercises like bicep curls. A few examples of multi-joint exercises are bench press, seated row, wide grip pull-downs, lunges, squats and deadlifts.

Incorporate resistance training in your workouts and get JACKED UP but not bulked up!

Note: If you are new to resistance exercise it is highly recommended you consult with a strength and conditioning professional.
